Then the Lord said to him, “who gives you speech to mortals? Who makes them mute or deaf, seeing or blind? Is it not I, the Lord?” Exodus 4:11
Have you ever experienced moments in your life where God has asked you to do something? Or right now He’s placed a burning passion in your heart. But, the idea has been pushed aside because you perceive yourself to be inadequate or not fit to fulfill God’s calling on your life. This scripture was a response to Moses who told God that he was not eloquent enough to voice out what God has instructed him to do. He wasn’t doubting God’s power but doubting himself. Moses was looking to his own capabilities, what he could do in his own strength.
God told Moses, who is the one who creates speech, who makes human beings mute or deaf, seeing or blind. He was not saying this to boast but to remind Moses of the God that He is serving. Most of the time we cannot rely on ourselves, it is all God and everything that we need is in Him. That is why He is the “I AM!”.
Deuteronomy 31:8 says,
“It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not fail you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed”.
Understand that God has foreseen everything, knows the steps we are to take and has equipped us with the tools, gifts and talents that are necessary to complete the task. As you spend time with Him, ask God to give you peace and reassurance. Just like Proverb 3:5-6 encourages us to trust in the Lord, let’s not lean on our own understanding but allow God to lead the way and move in our situation.
Prayer: Lord, I ask of you to help me step out in faith and not walking according to sight. I ask of your constant peace and to provide me with knowledge in areas where there seems to be no answer. Where there is confusion, provide me with clarity. And in the moments of discouragement, let Your voice be louder and Your word strong in heart.
