I want to share a moment that happened last year and what I learnt from it.
Last year, it was my first year of university and I remember that I was running late for my lecture. Usually I get there 10 minutes early so that I can attend my lecture on time and I still attend face-face lectures because I like to see the person in front of me, ask questions and just being able to interact.
That particular morning was not the case because I slept in. However, that day was different. I used to get so frustrated when I arrived late to my classes or to lectures or sessions that I booked. I would get upset with myself, try to blame someone or something. I’d even get annoyed because I have to board a train that crowded or if I miraculously felt like a marathon sprinter (which rarely happens) and do all that I can to enter my train before the doors shut.
Either way the bus or train leaves without me.
I remembered how I shrugged when I saw the train leave without. It wasn’t because I didn’t care because I finally realized that there will always be another train or another bus that will get me to my destination. It doesn’t matter if I have to wait half an hour or 10 minutes.
Maybe you’ve felt like you’ve lost the plot, stumbled and even forfeited your future. But guess what! God will always find a way to put you right where you need to be. He will help you fulfil what you’ve been called to do whether it takes 6 months or 3 years.
You didn’t get a good grade and that means you have to wait till July or next year — it may hurt but you will get there! You’ve made a mistake in your life and that means what you plan to do will be delayed — God will still redirect you!
For some of you, the consequences that you have to face, in your sight, overshadow your ability to trust God. It may feel like God has left you and you have to deal with the results for your disobedience, straying away or falling into temptation.
But our God is a restorer and He can always use what was intended to write you off, and re-write your story. Like a navigator, when you take the wrong route – the GPS doesn’t decide “okay, since you can’t listen, we’re going home”…
Nope! The GPS finds another route to keep you right on course. It sees where you’re located, looks at other routes and even though it will take longer, you will reach your destination.
The question is, will you allow God to guide you through the situation you’re in and let him direct you. He has the plan, will you obey His instructions and see where He takes you!
Your detour doesn’t determine your destination.
Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you. Plans to give you a hope and a future”
Pastor Lisa Bevere shared this on social media:
“If you think you’ve blown God’s plan for your life, rest in this. You, my beautiful friend, are not that powerful. “
