Lay your crowns

Last Saturday morning, the song ‘We fall down’ by Chris Tomlin was laid in my heart. Then after I listened to the song, there was a link that directed me to the story behind the song. As I watched, I found out that the song was based on Revelations 4. I read the story for myself, it struck me how we are called to worship God. That’s not all, there were 24 elders mentioned (I don’t know who they are) but each of them had their own thrones.

But in Rev 4:10-11 it says: the twenty-four elders fall down before the one who is seated on the throne and worship the one who lives forever and ever; they cast their crowns before the throne, singing and praising “You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honour and power, for you created all things and by your will they existed and were created”

The reason I’m mentioning this is because these elders had their own throne but once they were in the presence of the Lord, they got off of their throne and laid their crowns at His feet. It didn’t matter what position they had acquired or what they achieved for the Lord was far greater. I hope that your worship remains the same no matter where you are in life. Whether you’re in the deep valley or on the mountaintop – that you cry “Holy, holy, holy, the Lord God the Almighty”. With the crowns that you have, are you able to lay it at the Lord’s feet and give Him the honour? With where you are seated, are you willing to fall down with pure adoration and reverence? All that you have gained in the world is nothing compared to His glory, power, supremacy, holiness, goodness, love, mercy, authority and so much more.

Let’s always have a heart of worship, be filled with a song of praise, come boldly and remember who God is to you.

“O give thanks to the Lord, call on his name, make known his deeds among the peoples. Sing to him, sing praises to him; tell all of his wonderful works.” Psalm 105:1-2
