Yesterday afternoon, my mum, siblings and I were reading Ezekiel chapter 37. Some might be familiar with this scripture but it’s the story of Ezekiel prophesying over these dry bones.
Ezekiel is a prophet and in a vision, he sees the hand of God and God leads him to a valley. In the valley laid dry bones. The Lord asked Ezekiel “Son of man, can these bones live?” and Ezekiel answers, “O Lord God, You know”
Do you believe that the Lord knows the status of all the things going on in our lives? DO you believe that He sees everything and knows how your current position will turn out in the end? Ezekiel did not know the answer but knew that God did. You may not know the answer but God does.
After Ezekiel answered, God gave him the words to prophesy over the dry bones. And the bible describes this moment after Ezekiel used the very words, God had spoken to him:
“So I prophesied as I was commanded; and as I prophesied, there was a noise, and suddenly a rattling; and the bones came together, bone to bone. Indeed as I looked, the sinews and the flesh came upon them, and the skin covered them over; but there was no breath in them” (Ezekiel 37:7-8)
In the areas of your life that seems inactive, dead and you think cannot possibly change…When you’re surrounded by dry bones, moments where you feel the battle has lost, you have no hope or any faith that things can be restored. Will you ask God to help you prophesy over your situation? Will you cling unto the promises of God like Kind David did.
In Psalm 119:49-50 (NKJV) it says,”Remember the word to Your servant, Upon which You have caused me to have hope. This is my comfort in my affliction. For Your word has given me life”
God taught Ezekiel to prophesy and provided him with the words to speak. Have you asked God to help you to speak life in your troubles and to speak His truth. Or do you see all these dry bones which may represent different things in your circumstance, and speak negative things? Or do you allow other opinion of men to be the final judgement?
I encourage you to put your hope back in God!
What I also love in this passage of scripture is that, God also gave Ezekiel the words that summoned breath in the lungs of the dead army. As Ezekiel continued to prophesy, the Lord instructed the prophet to declare to the risen army in verse 14:
“I will put My spirit in you, and you shall live, and I will place you in your own land. Then you shall know that I, the LORD, have spoken it and performed it,” says the Lord’ “
God spoke and things came to pass. Isaiah 55:11 says,
“So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth. It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it”
You may not know how God will answer your prayer or when it will happen. But know this, when God speaks there is nothing on Earth, in heaven or hell that can refute His words. He has authority over all things.
Continue to have faith in God,
Don’t give up.
Rest. Don’t Stress and most of all, your are blessed!
