Peter: “I am ready to walk with you to the person and to death” and the Lord said to him.
“I tell you, Peter, the cock will not crow with this day, until you have denied three times that you know me”
It’s amazing how easy it is to walk with God without any outside forces and tribulations. Peter promised Jesus that he will never leave him or deny him in front of others. The minute Peter was surrounded by the public and they accused him of following/ being one of the 12 disciples of Jesus — he crumbled under pressure. Not wanting to be grouped with the man that was arrested — Peter lied.
Often in our journey into all that God has for us, our walk is never going to be easy! And we can easily become like Peter. The world will try to manipulate us, confuse us and try to lead us down a different road. People that you encounter in your life will make you feel like the odd one out.
But remember we become a new creation in Christ. No longer are we bound to sin, temptation, feel the need to be validated and fulfill society’s expectation.
Don’t compromise your values. Don’t swap your faith for fear and eternity for popularity.
Remember Romans 8:31 states “If God is for you, who can be against you!”
That does not mean you will not face problems nor will you be exempted from trials. What it does mean is that, you will be able to withstand what is going on around you for Jesus has overcome the world.
Prayer: Dear Jesus, we thank you for the price you paid on the cross. I thank you for the sacrifice that was made so that I may have new life. In this world that I live in, help me to shine your light. When I’m confused, provide me with clarity. In the moments where all I hear are the noises of the world, tune my ear to your holy spirit. I ask of your holy spirit to guide me through life, the steps that I should take, to remind me of your teaching and align me with my Father’s will. Where there is fear, help me to remember that you have given me the spirit of power, love and self-discipline.
